BENGALURU: A day after the Gauri-Ganesha festival, wastage piled up at the city markets. People flocked to the markets to make purchases. Over the past two to three days, Bengaluru’s markets were crowded with people. However, after the festival, the markets are now filled with piles of waste.

During the festival, major markets like KR Market, Gandhibazaar, and Malleshwaram were crowded with people making purchases. As a result, the amount of waste in Bengaluru has increased significantly.

The markets are filled with piles of waste, plastic, and the streets are littered with trash. KR Market, which is one of the busiest markets in Bengaluru, was particularly crowded during the festival, with lakhs of people visiting to buy items like banana leaves, pumpkins, fruits, and flowers.

The vendors have left behind unsold items, contributing to the increased waste. The city generates around 4,900 metric tons of waste daily, which increases during festivals.

The Malleshwaram market is no exception, with waste scattered on the roads due to the rain. The vendors have left the waste behind, adding to the problem.
