Pick-up truck bumps into series of vehicles; driver, assistant thrashed

MANGALURU: A pick-up truck driver hit a series of vehicles all the way from Bajpe before enraged locals caught up with him near Hosakaveri on Mulki Highway and thrashed him and his assistant on Thursday night.

Locals alleged that the pick-up truck driver hit three motorcycles at the Bajpe checkpoint. A group of people followed the pick-up and stopped him after chasing him for 12 km between Mulki and Kinnigoli on the state highway. The group alleged that the driver hit many motorcycles, cars and buses along the way.

The pick-up truck driver bumped into series of vehicles and was thrashed by a group of people.

The driver was dragged out of the pick-up truck and thrashed thoroughly. The group of people alleged that the driver and his assistant had consumed ganja. When the group asked the driver, he mentioned a Hindu name, but when they checked his driving licence it was Muslim name. The group was further enraged by this. The incident occurred in Mulki police limits.
