HUBBALL: Two physically challenged beggars got into an argument in a drunken state, resulting in the death of one of them, in Old Hubballi police limits on Sunday night. The accused has since been arrested.
The victim was identified as Mitesh while the accused is Rajesh Kumar and both hail from Bihar. They had been eking out a living by begging in different parts of Hubballi and were living in a rented house in Old Hubballi.
On Sunday, Mitesh returned home drunk and abused Rajesh’s mother. Angered by this, Rajesh hit Mitesh on the head with a public address system. However, Mitesh died on the way to KIMS hospital.
Police Commissioner N Shashikumar said the accused had lost his legs in a road accidents and was residing at Diddi Oni along with his family. “Due to a festival, the other members of the family were not present in the house at the time of the incident. Mitesh and Rajesh got into an argument in a drunken state and both were begging in Hubballi. As per preliminary information, they have been living here for the last 3-4 months and we are collecting more information”.
The Old Hubbali police visited the spot and arrested the accused. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
