CHAMARAJANAGAR: Several petitions presented by farmers’ leaders to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were found in piles of garbage in Chamarajanagar where the Congress had organised a thanksgiving programme after winning the Lok Sabha seat. Videos of the petitions strewn in garbage piles have now gone viral on social media.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had himself received the peitions at the public event organised at the Dr B R Ambedkar Stadium in Chamarajanagar on June 10. Farmers’ organisations have vented their anger after their petitions were found discarded in garbage. This has led to a furore among the farmers.
Raitha Sangha district president Honnur Prakash said, “We went to the CM with our petitions highlighting our problems. These issues pertained to the entire district and not individuals, but they were thrown in garbage. Siddaramaiah should not have so much arrogance. He should apologise to the farmers of the state”.
“Common people and farmers waited in the hot sun to present the memorandums, but they were thrown in the garbage. This shows the negligence of the Chief Minister”, said farmers’ leader Nanjundaswamy.
They have warned that the CM must publicly apologise to the people. They even threatened to show black flags if he visits the district again.
