BENGALURU: Amid the ongoing discussion regarding the BJP-JDS alliance in the Lok Sabha polls, BJP MLA CN Ashwath Narayan on Friday said that people who are for NDA are most welcome.
“Super! We have not heard any official announcement. If JD(S) is interested, they need to join the NDA…People who are for NDA are most welcome…” he said while talking to the reporters.
Ashwath Narayan also hit out at the Congress-led government in Karnataka alleging misgovernance and said that since the Congress party came to power in the state there has been a complete mismanagement in the state.
“Since the Congress party came to power in the state there has been a complete mismanagement. It has been completely anti-people, anti-farmer, anti-development. So, we want to create awareness. We want to alert this government, make them realise how they have been engaging in misgovernance and anti-development. We want to alert them and correct their path in terms of governance, development and being pro-farmer,” he said.
Expressing confidence in winning the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the BJP MLA said, “We are confident of winning all the 28 seats in the state of Karnataka. Last time we won 25 plus one on which we gave support. This time we are confident of winning all the 28.”
Earlier, in connection with forming an alliance with BJP, JDS held a meeting on Wednesday in the state capital at the residence of former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy in the presence of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.
In 2019 JDS had won just one Loksabha seat from the family pocket borough of Hassan where HD Devegowda had made way for grand nephew Prajwal Revanna. Now Prajwal Revanna’s Loksabha membership is also at stake as the High court of Karnataka has disqualified him, stating that Prajwal had filed false affidavits during the 2018-2019 general election.
The BJP which enjoys the support of the Lingayats in Karnataka is looking to gain by allying with the JDS which has a strong base amongst the Vokkaligas the other dominant caste in Karnataka. (ANI)
