KALABURAGI: A peace meeting convened by the Kalaburagi district administration in connection with the proposed RSS procession in Chittapur on November 2 turned tense, with Dalit organisations demanding that the RSS should conduct the procession without lathis. The RSS leaders opposed this demand, leading to a heated argument and the abrupt adjournment of the meeting.
The district administration had convened the meeting on Tuesday to discuss the issue and find a solution. However, the meeting ended in chaos, with both sides sticking to their demands. The RSS representatiaves were safely escorted to their vehicles by the police. Dalit organisations, including the Bhim Army, have threatened to hold a protest march if their demands are not met.
The issue is also before the Kalaburagi bench of the High Court, which had earlier directed the district administration to hold a peace meeting and submit a report. The court will now decide the fate of the RSS procession on October 30.
The RSS had planned to hold a procession in Chittapur, but Dalit organisations had objected to it, citing concerns about potential law and order issues. The district administration is caught in the middle, trying to balance the demands of both sides while ensuring peace and order in the area.
The development has sparked tensions in the area, with both sides digging in their heels. The outcome of the court’s decision will be crucial in determining the future of the RSS procession.
