BENGALURU: Hours after the Supreme Court cancelled their bail, the main accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, Pavithra Gowda and second accused Darshan Thoogudeepa were arrested by the Bengaluru police on Thursday.
Before the police arrived at her mother’s house in RR Nagar, Pavithra Gowda was seen offering puja. A police team arrived there armed with a copy of the Supreme Court order and an arrest memo.
As the police were taking Pavithra away, her mother could be seen in tears. Pavithra hugged her mother, packed some clothes and accompanied the police to the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station. She will be produced before a court and is expected to be remanded to judicial custody.
Earlier, her advocates Balan and Narayanaswamy questioned the police why they were arresting her instead of producing her directly before a court. The police then handed out the arrest memo and insisted that she has to be arrested.
Meanwhile, Darshan was arrested from his wife Vijayalakshmi’s residence in Hosakerehalli after he arrived in Bengaluru. Darshan is believed to have headed out of the state on Wednesday night itself before the Supreme Court gave its ruling on the bail.
The police had barricaded the area near his house expecting his fans to converge their. After giving him some time to pack his clothes, the police escorted him to the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station. He will also be produced before a court and is expected to be remanded to judicial custody.
The police also arrested Nagaraju in Bengaluru and had served notice to the other four accused — Anukumar, Pradosh S, Jagadish a.k.a. Jagga, Lakshman M — who had ben released on bail by the Karnataka high court. According to DCP-South S Girish, two others, Lakshman, and Pradosh also have been arrested.
