BENGALURU: Patients, staff, nurses and doctors at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital suffered for about 12 hours without electricity supply as the underground electric cable got cut.
On Sunday, the hospital staff were seen working without proper lighting arrangements at the hospital. According to hospital sources, an underground cable laid in front of the hospital was damaged due to which power supply to the hospital was affected.
Patients were also seen walking in the dark and moving from one ward to another ward. There were small babies and delivery patients admitted in the hospital. The situation persisted for at least 12 hours.
Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital is the one of the oldest hospitals in the city.
Dr Manoj, Dean of Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, said “Bescom fixed the problem. There was no power supply from 5 am on Sunday morning till evening. The generator was used continuously and then diesel was also topped up twice. Now, there is no problem due to power, everything is alright. Some patients shifted to Victoria hospital and Vani Valasa hospital voluntarily”.
