BENGALURU: Following the crash of the Air India flight bound for London’s Gatwick airport on Thursday afternoon, flights to Bengaluru from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport were delayed by several hours as the airport had briefly shut operations.

Passengers who landed in Bengaluru in the wee hours on Friday said a sense of fear still lingered in their minds following the horrific crash. “We were just entering the Ahmedabad airport when the Air India flight crashed. It is really a tragic incident and more than 200 people have died”, said Aravind, who arrived at Kempegowda International Airport.

Further, he said, “We did not get clear information about the crash since we were inside the airport. We got to know about it only from television news channels. Things were normal inside the airport, but flights were affected. All through the journey back to Bengaluru, there was a sense of anxiety on the faces of all passengers”.

Another passengers, Sunil, said, “When we entered the airport, I could see that several flights were delayed. After inquiring, the airport staff said the Air India flight had crashed close to the airport. On a recent flight to Delhi, the aircraft suffered some damage after encountering turbulence. So, we were a bit scared when we were boarding the flight to Bengaluru”.
