BENGALURU: The deadline for filing of objections to the Greater Bengaluru Area (GBA) ward reservation ended on Friday ahead of the elections to the five city corporations. Several objections have been filed, including by BJP, JDS, and Congress, citing errors in the reservation process.

The objections note that the reservation process has several discrepancies, including a reduction of 11 seats reserved for women and the removal of 15 seats reserved for OBC and SC/ST categories.

The BJP, JDS, and Congress have filed objections, with the BJP submitting objections for all five city corporations. The objections note that the reservation process is flawed and needs to be revised.

If the objections are not addressed, former corporators, MLAs, and the public may approach the courts, alleging that the reservation process is unfair. The Supreme Court has directed the State Election Commission to conduct elections by June 30, adding pressure to resolve the issue.

The final reservation list is awaited, and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds. The objections and potential court intervention may impact the election schedule and the reservation process.
