BENGALURU: Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara has expressed his disappointment over Congress general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, Randeep Singh Surjewala, not seeking his opinion on naming heads of the various boards and corporations.

The Home Minister said Surjewala held a meeting with the CM and KPCC president on naming heads of boards and corporations last week, but did not seek his opinion or call him for discussion. “My opinion was not heard. It would have been good to have asked me, because I was also the president of KPCC for eight years”, he said.

“The central leaders know the seniors in the state. It would have been better if our opinion was sought. They are doing it with the permission of the High Command. It would be good if the powers were distributed to MLAs and the party activists”, Parameshwara felt.

Commenting on the Karnataka government’s advertisement in Telangana, he said, “I have no information about it. I have seen in the media that the Election Commission has written a letter to the Secretary.

Reacting to the query about increasing foeticides in the state, the Home Minister said, “Let the investigation in the case be completed. Everything about the involvement of the accused will come out.

To a question on citizens raising many issues related to the Home Department during the Chief Minister’s Jana Spandana programme, Parameshwara said, “Earlier, people were afraid to go to police stations. Now anyone can go to the police station. We have given instructions that FIRs should be filed on complaints and now, more and more people are going to police stations”.

Referring to the opposition charge that crimes are on the rise these days. Parameshwars hit back at the BJP saying, “We are investigating the complaints and taking it to the logical end. Because of this, people are coming to the police stations with confidence. Earlier, people hesitated to go to police stations and complaints were not even being considered by the police. The number of cyber cases were also increasing people didn’t know where to go. We have told all police stations to take cyber crime case also and once they have filed the FIR, they should send it to the CEN stations. A direction has been given to all police stations”.
