BENGALURU: The city police have arrested a man and his Pakistani girlfriend after he illegally married her and forged her identity to live in the city.
The accused has been identified as Mulayam Singh Yadav (26), a resident of Uttar Pradesh, and his Pakistani girlfriend Iqra Jeewani (19). They have been handed over to Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).
A few months ago, Mulayam Singh Yadav met Iqra Jeewani on a mobile gaming application and they fell in love playing online Ludo. For the last seven years, he has worked as a security guard for several companies in the city. When they decided to get married, he booked flight tickets for her from Karachi to Dubai and then to Kathmandu. They got married in Nepal and last September, crossed border and came to Patna. From there, they travelled by train to Bengaluru and started living in Bellandur police limits.
Iqra Jeewani’s mother, who lives in Pakistan, frequently contacted her over the phone. The central Intelligence Bureau informed the state police about regular phone calls between Bengaluru and Pakistan. Acting on the information, the Bellandur police arrested both and she was handed over to FRRO. Arrangements are being made to send her back to her home country.
A case has been registered against Mulayam Singh Yadav under the Foreigners Act at tje Bellandur police station and further investigation is under way.
“We got exact information about the girl living with the man in Bellandur police limits. She belongs to Hyderabad in Pakistan. Mulayam Singh Yadav, who belongs to Uttar Pradesh, was working as a security guard in Bengaluru. Last year, he met Iqra through the Ludo mobile application. They exchange mobile numbers and decided to get married following which he made plans to bring her to India”, said S Girish, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield Division, Bengaluru City.
“Mulayam Singh Yadav booked a flight for Iqra from Karachi to Dubai and then to Kathmandu. He got her a fake Aadhar card to bring her to our country and she illegally entered India through the Nepal border. We have arrested him and arrangements are being made to deport her back to her country. No suspicious activities were found during the preliminary investigation. She has contacted her mother in Pakistan”, he added.
