MANGALURU: The Mudabidre police, who had recently arrested Hindu Jagaran Vedike Dakshina Kannada district convener Samith Raj in connection with a case of stone pelting on a private bus, have uncovered over 50 obscene videos on his phone, including that of a prominent political leader from the coastal region.

Samith Raj had been released on bail in the stone-pelting case, but his mobile phone had been seized by the police. The obscene videos were found on his phone after securing permission from a court to extract data.

Following the discovery, Mudabidre Police Inspector Sandesh P G has registered a fresh FIR and a notice is expected to be issued to Samith Raj to join the investigation. The FIR was filed as there was a possibility of the videos being shared or broadcast, the police said.

Sources said the videos included those of explicit sexual acts and nudes. Samith Raj’s phone had been sent to the Mangaluru Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics Crime (CEN) police station for data recovery.
