Over 26 lakh devotees visit Hasanamba temple

HASSAN: After remaining open for 15 days, the sanctum sanctorum of the Hasanamba Devi Temple, considered the presiding deity and Shakti deity of Hassan, were closed at 1:06 pm on Thursday.

District In-charge minister Krishna Byregowda, MLAs H P Swaroop Prakash, Cement Manju, K M Shivalingegowda, MP Shreyas Patel, Deputy Commissioner K S Latha Kumari, DIG Boralingaiah, SP Mahammed Sujeetha, and temple administrator Maruthi were present.

The closure of the sanctum sanctorum marked the end of the 15-day-long annual festival, during which the goddess is worshipped and devotees offer prayers. The temple will reopen on October 29, 2026. Hundreds of devotees visited the temple to catch a glimpse of the goddess before the doors closed on Thursday.

After the closure of the doors, Minister Krishna Byregowda addressed the media, saying, “The 2025 Hasanamba Jatra Mahotsav has concluded successfully. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to its success, including MLAs, MPs, district administration, revenue department, police department, and the public”.

He added that around 26.13 lakh devotees had visited the temple until Wednesday evening, and the ticket sales had generated Rs 21.82 crore. The total collection, including offerings, is expected to reach Rs 25 crore. The minister thanked everyone for their cooperation and hard work, which ensured a smooth and peaceful festival.
