Over 25 tourists from Bengaluru injured after bus overturns near Mudigere

CHIKKAMAGALUR: Over 25 tourists sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in overturned at a curve near Devanagul village in Mudigere taluk on Saturday. The bus was on its way from Bengaluru to Kudremukh when the accident occurred.

About 40 employees of a private company in Bengaluru had set out for Kudremukh from where they had planned to trek to Netravathi peak. The bus overturned after the driver lost control at a bend.

More than 25 of the tourists were injured in the incident, two of them seriously. They were shifted to hospitals in Mudigere and Chikkamagalur. A case has been registered at the Mudigere police station.

In another accident, a an SUV and a jeep collided head-on on the road to Mullayyanagiri amid heavy rain. Luckily, the occupants survived with minor injuries, but both vehicles were badly damaged.

There was a rush of tourists for the weekend with 1,850 vehicles allowed. The police had to stop vehicles from proceeding towards Mullayyanagiri for two hours till the rush receded.
