KOPPAL: At least 20 girls from a government pre-matric hostel run by the Social Welfare Department, fell sick after consuming contaminated food on Thursday night.
The hostel is located just behind the Koppal police station. The students were taken to the district hospital in Koppal where they were treated for food poisoning.
Deputy Commissioner D C Sundaresh Babu visited the district hospital, collected information from the officials and took stock of the situation.
It is said that expired milk packets were found in the hostel kitchen during the search. The cause for the contamination of the food is yet to be ascertained by the police.
