BENGALURU:Over 20 Congress leaders, including former MPs, MLCs and ministers, have written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging him to set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe an alleged mining scam worth over Rs 1 lakh crore in the state.

The leaders have cited the report of the Cabinet Sub-Committee, headed by Law Minister H K Patil, which found irregularities in mining activities in Ballari, Tumakuru and Chitradurga districts.

According to the report, the mining scam amounts to over Rs 1 lakh crore. The Congress leaders have requested the formation of an SIT to investigate the scam and bring the culprits to justice. The letter emphasizes that there should be a thorough probe into the matter, given the massive scale of the alleged irregularities.
