Out to buy curds and buttermilk for wedding ritual, two youths killed in hit-and-run accident

HASSAN: Two youths were killed after an unidentified vehicle hit their motorcycle near Muthaganne village in Belur taluk on Thursday.

The victims, Lokesh (25) from Honnenahalli village in Belur taluk and Kiran (32) from Ramenahalli village in Chikkamagaluru district, were on their way to Belur on a Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle (KA-05-LE-4017) to fetch buttermilk and curds for Lokesh’s sister’s ‘Aaratakshate’ function.

Lokesh and Kiran died instantly and the bike was found 10 feet away from the bodies. Locals informed the police after discovering the bodies, and a police team, led by PSI Patil, visited the scene and conducted an investigation.

A case has been registered at the Belur police Station, and further investigation is under way to identify the unknown vehicle involved in the accident.
