Out on morning walk, teacher crushed to death by speeding car

BAGALKOT, CHAMARAJANAGAR: A school teacher, who was out on a morning walk, was killed after he was run over by a speeding car in Bilagi taluk on Friday.

Muthappa Talwar (37) was walking along the road when he was knocked down by a car near Amalajari village, killing him on the spot. Muthappa was a teacher at the Petlur government school in Mudhol taluk. The Bilagi police visited the spot and have registered a case.

In another incident, one youth died while another sustained serious injuries when their motorcycle hit a roadside tree after the rider lost control near Hanur in Chamarajanagar district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Nagaraj, a resident of Kumbalgod near Bengaluru. The pillion rider Akash was shifted to the government hospital in Hanur. The accident occurred just outside Hanur town.

The two were on their way to Male Mahadeshwara Hills when the accident occurred. The Hanur police visited the spot and have registered a case.
