MYSURU: With Opposition leader Siddaramaiah set to contest the May 10 Assembly election from Varuna constituency, currently represented by his son Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the latter has expressed fears of inimical forces coming together to ensure his defeat just like it happened the last time in Chamundeshwari constituency.

“As you know, Siddaramaiah will be contesting the May 10 election from Varuna segment. He has done a lot of work in the constituency and has given good administration in the state as chief minister. This will be Siddaramaiah’s last election. Wherever he contest, other parties and forces against him come together and make efforts to defeat him”.

“This time, it should not happen like in Chamundeshwari constituency the last election and hence, we asked him to contest from Varuna segment because the voters here are always with him. It is our firm belief that the voters from Varuna will not ditch Siddaramaiah whatever inducements the other parties offer or fall prey to their conspiracies”, Yathindra said while addressing a crowd at a village.

While Siddaramaiah will be busy with campaigning all across the state, the responsibility of ensuring his victory from Varuna now rests with Yathindra. The latter has now sought to play the emotional card saying this will be his father’s last election and that the voters should uphold his dignity by ensuring his victory.
