BENGALURU: Even as his plea for some facilities is pending before a court, actor Darshan is getting support from fellow undertrial prisoners. Other inmates in the jail have been lending blankets and books to Darshan. He has started to read books based on stories and spirituality to cope with his situation.

Darshan is struggling to adjust to the jail food and is finding it hard to adapt to the prison’s routine. Despite the jail authorities providing pillows, bedsheets and mattresses as per the manual, Darshan is suffering back pain and having trouble sleeping on the bed and pillow.

Darshan is lodged with five other inmates who have been accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. On seeing his condition, his fellow inmates show additional concern for him by giving him their bedsheets and pillows during the day. In his free time, Darshan reads two types of books — one based on stories and the other on spirituality.

He does not get rice, sambar and mudde (ragi balls), so he prefers chapati with vegetables, along with bakery items like mixture, biscuits and sweets. Darshan has requested that he be given more chapatis instead of rice. It appears that Darshan is struggling to adjust to the jail’s system and has become quite weak. Darshan has lost significant weight due to health issues and difficulties with jail food, sources pointed out.
