Operation Sindoor: Heightened security along Karnataka’s coast

Security along the coast in Karnataka has been heightened.

KARWAR, MANGALURU: Following the conduct of Operation Sindoor by the armed forces targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), the coastal security police and the Indian Coast Guard are on high alert all along the coastal districts of Karnataka.

As part of the security measures, the coastal security police and the Coast Guard have intensified checks in the Arabian Sea and Chinese and Pakistani crew on cruise ships coming from friendly nations too are not being allowed on land. Security checks have also been intensified at the INS Kadamba naval base and the Karwar port.

Merchant vessels with Pakistani or Chinese crew are also not being allowed at the Karwar port. All vessels, including fishing boats, are being checked thoroughly and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the deep sea and to continue with their fishing activity within 12 nautical miles from the coast.

The coastal police are also carrying out thorough checks on all vessels at the Mangaluru port and checking the documents of all fishermen and suspicious boats are being monitored.
