One-year-old child preterm baby dumped in water tank, dies

BENGALURU: A year-old baby was found inside a water tank in a lifeless state in Iggaluru near Chandapura in Anekal taluk. The family is now accusing that someone killed the child over the parent’s inter-caste marriage.

The child was born to Manu and Harshita. It was a premature baby and was born through a Cesarean section at six months. The baby had undergone treatment for respiratory issues at a hospital. The parents spent lakhs of rupees for the treatment and the baby was on ventilator support in the Intensive Care Unit.

The baby had fully recovered and was brought home a week ago. However, when the mother went to the bathroom on Monday, the baby suddenly disappeared from the room around 12.45 pm. Despite searching their house and surroundings, the baby was nowhere to be found.

A complaint was filed at the Surya Nagar police station. During the search, the police found the baby’s body in the water tank of the house.

The baby’s parents got inter-caste marriage. There is an allegation that the baby was killed for inter-caste marriage. A case has been registered at the Surya Nagar police station. Inspector Sanjay Mahajan is investigating the case .

The parents were taken to the Oxford Medical College in Attibele for a post-mortem examination of the child. The police handed over the baby’s body to the parents after the post-mortem examination.
