HASSAN: A labourer died and two others were seriously injured after earth caved in while they were carrying out lake restoration work at Hanike village in Belur taluk on Thursday evening.
The deceased was identified as Darshan Kumar (29) of Holenarsipur. The injured Vasanth Kumar and Lokappa were shifted to the district hospital where they are said to be in a serious condition.
The contract for the lake work was awarded to one Prakash of Hassan. The earth caved in suddenly when Vasanth Kumar, Darshan Kumar and Lokappa were working. The Belur police visited the spot and have registered a case.
