One dead, six injured in boiler blast at Bhadravathi rice mill

SHIVAMOGGA: One person was killed and six others were injured after a blast occurred in a boiler at the Ganesh rice mill at Bhadravathi on Thursday evening. The body of the deceased Raghu was found on Friday morning and a search was conducted for him through the night by the Fire and Emergency Services and police personnel.

The body was sent for post-mortem examination while the injured are being treated in at the government hospital. The blast occurred at the rice mill on the Bhadravathi-Channagiri road. Police Superintendent Mithun Kumar on Thursday said that the boiler blast occurred around 6.30 pm and there was extensive damage to the property including a couple of houses.

Power supply had also been affected in some parts of Bhadravathi due to the boiler blast. Hundreds of quintals of paddy bags stored in the rice mill had been strewn around as a result of the blast.
