BENGALURU: One person died and another was injured after a truck carrying onions overturned near Makali on the Bengaluru-Nelamangala national highway in the early hours on Wednesday. The truck driver and three farmers escaped with injuries.
The accident occurred when the truck, which was headed towards Bengaluru, tried to avoid an autorickshaw and lost control, overturning on the road. The police said the truck had veered off course and a two-wheeler crashed into it, killing the rider instantly. The injured person was rushed to the hospital.
However, the accident didn’t stop people from looting the onions that spilled on to the road. A large crowd gathered, and people scrambled to collect as many onions as they could, ignoring the chaos and danger around them. The police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.
