KOLAR: A woman died and 11 people were injured in separate accidents in the district on Friday.
A tractor and an SUV collided on National Highway-75 at Srinivasapura Circle near Jnana Jyothi College, resulting in a fire that gutted both vehicles. Three people in the SUV were injured, with one person, Dhanush, sustaining serious injuries. The tractor driver, Seenappa, a resident of Kadiripura, suffered a fractured leg.
The accident occurred when the tractor, travelling from a village to Mulbagal, was hit by the SUV coming from Bengaluru. The collision caused a fire that quickly engulfed both vehicles.
Fortunately, a truck driver passing by the accident scene acted quickly and rescued the occupants of the SUV by breaking its windows. The Mulbagal police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. The fire brigade team arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.
In another accident near Meesaganahalli in Srinivasapura taluk, a truck collided with an autorickshaw, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to eight people. The deceased woman, identified as Yashodamma from Vajranagenahalli village in Mulbagal taluk, was travelling in the autorickshaw from Srinivasapura to Mulbagal when the accident occurred.
The auto was carrying passengers due to a bundh in Kolar. The Srinivasapura police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
