BIDAR: A one-day-old newborn baby boy, abandoned by the roadside, died due to the prevailing cold conditions, at Rudnoor village in Bhalki taluk.
In CCTV footage, a woman can be seen abandoning the infant next to the compound wall of a mosque near Ambedkar Circle in the early morning hours and walking away.
After word got around, locals gathered near the mosque and shifted the infant to a hospital, but the baby died enroute.
The Dhanura police visited the spot and checked the CCTV footage. They are now trying to identify the woman and establish why she abandoned the child.
