HUBBALLI: The Karnataka BJP unit staged a protest in Hubballi-Dharwad against the state government’s decision to withdraw the old Hubballi riot case, with leaders and party workers showing black cloth at CM’s convoy to express outrage at the government.
The protest coincided with the Chief Minister’s visit to the district.BJP leaders, including MLA Mahesh Tenginakai, Aravind Bellad, and district president Tippannna Majji, staged a protest on the route the CM’s convoy would take, blocking the airport road at Akshay Park Circle.
Police requested the protesters to withdraw their stir, but they intensified their agitation as the CM’s convoy approached. This led to a scuffle between protesters and police, resulting in the detention of over 100 BJP workers, including leaders.
Later, two party workers, Jagadish and Manjunath, displayed black cloth at the time CM’s convoy was approaching, and two were promptly taken into custody by police.
