BELAGAVI: A NWKRTC employee committed suicide by hanging inside a bus parked at the Depot-1 in Alnavar on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Keshav Kamadoli (57), a resident of Gandhi Nagar.
Keshav was earlier deployed in the vehicle washing section and after he hurt his hand, he was shifted to the tyre section. His family claimed that they had approached depot manager Lingaraj Lathi and assistant superintendent Anil Bandekar to allot him lighter work as he was having back pain, but his job was not changed.
However, officials denied any knowledge about what prompted Keshav to end his life. They also pointed out that about 1.5 years ago, he had been granted long leave to avail treatment for mental health issues. This sparked anger among the family members who threatened not to shift the body while claiming that the mental health issue was cooked up.
The Market police visited the spot and have taken up further investigation after registering a case.
