Now, kidnap case against Revanna; lawyers withdraw anticipatory bail plea

JD(S) MLC HD Revanna has been booked in a case of kidnap at KR Nagar police station.

BENGALURU, MYSURU: In more trouble for JD(S) MLC H D Revanna, he has been booked for kidnap after the victim’s son lodged a complaint at the KR Nagar police station in Mysuru district. While Revanna has been named as the first accused in the case, Sathis Babanna, a relative of Revanna’s wife Bhavani, has been named as the second accused and was arrested.

As per the complainant, Sathis Babanna came to his house a few days ago and took away his mother stating that Bhavani Revanna wanted to meet her. He said that his mother has been missing ever since. He also alleged that they were threatened not to reveal about it to the police.

Additional Superintendent of Police Nandini, who is camping in K R Nagar, met the family of the victim at the police station and inquired about the alleged kidnapping. The police are also questioning Sathis Babanna.

Sathis Babanna, the second accused in the case, was arrested by the KR Nagar police on Friday.

Meanwhile, the lawyers for Revanna have withdrawn his anticipatory bail plea after initial hearing in a Bengaluru court on Friday. When the plea was taken up for hearing, Revanna’s lawyers pleaded that no precipitative action be taken.

Special Public Prosecutor Jagadish told the court that charges under IPC Section 376 (rape) have not been added to which Revanna’s lawyers sought to know if any non-bailable sections would be added. After the SPP told the court that no other sections would be added, Revanna’s lawyers withdrew the anticipatory bail application.

On his part, Revanna has not been seen in public for the last three days and the police are contemplating issuing a lookout notice for him too. On Thursday evening, the SIT issued a second notice to Revanna to join the investigation in the case related to the complaint lodged by their former house help. The case has been registered under Sections 354A, 354D, 506, and 509 of the IPC on charges of sexual harassment, intimidation and outraging the dignity of a woman.
