KOPPAL: Yet another FIR has been filed against Vijayapura City MLA Basanagouda R Patil (Yatnal), this time for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Dalit women, at the Koppal town police station.

In his complaint, Kuvempu Nagar resident Mallikarjun Pujar has alleged that that Yatnal had abused Dalit women in the name of caste while speaking about the invitation extended to Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara celebrations.

Meanwhile, some social media handles claimed that an edited clip of the MLA was shared to make it seem that he had disrespected Dalit women. Reacting to the development, Yatnal posted on X, “Throughout the state, including Maddur and Tumakuru, some adjustment leaders, unable to tolerate the fact that Hindu activists stand firmly with me regardless of caste or religion, have launched a campaign on social media through their patronized drama troupe, spreading false propaganda that I made statements against Dalits. However, when the public immediately called out their lies, it has come to my notice that, in an attempt to turn their lies into truth by repeating them ten times, they have filed a complaint against me”.

“I clearly stated – ordinary Dalit women also have the right to inaugurate Dasara, but Bhanu Mustak does not have that right. Because some dissatisfied souls are dreaming of bringing me down, they have resorted to such conspiracies. However, the truth is that the people of the state themselves will give them a fitting response”.

Responding to another post, he wrote, “My office has already filed a complaint against the fake handles, and in that matter the Hon’ble High Court has directed that no coercive action be taken. As for this FIR and the fabricated allegations clearly orchestrated by adjustment politicians in collusion with Congress they only reveal the depths to which frustrated politicians can sink in their desperation. Satyameva Jayate”.
