BENGALURU: Residents of Ward 76 in the Malleswaram Assembly constituency have complained that the road leading to the ward, which was previously represented by the Congress party, has not been asphalted or developed and that the authorities are showing a step-motherly attitude.
With the Assembly elections approaching, local leaders of the constituency are eager to take up development work. But residents of Ward 76 complained that roads, drains and other facilities are being developed in wards that were represented by the BJP, but not in the other wards.
In Ward 65 of Malleswaram Assembly Constituency, the roads have been asphalted and a footpath has been constructed, but in Ward 76 in the same constituency, there is no development in the area. The locals claimed that Congress corporator Chandrakala did not come to the ward as her term had expired. The areas represented by BJP corporator before the BBMP council term ended, have been developed, they claimed.
“As a citizen, we need three basic amenities in the place where we reside — roads, electricity and water. Many years ago, they dug the road, but until now, they have not repaved it. We do not have streetlights and we get water on alternate days. There is no development in this area”, said Keshavamurthy, a resident of Gayathrinagar.
“In our constituency, even though the MLA is the same for our wards, due to the political differences at the ward level between the BJP and Congress, there has been no development in Ward 76. There is no garbage management, no drainage slabs or even an assurance that works will be taken up”, said Prasanna, another resident of Ward 76.
