BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday congratulated popular Kannada news channel Public TV on the occasion of its 13th anniversary celebration. In an interview with Public TV chief H R Ranganath, CM Siddaramaiah shared his significant political thoughts on various political issues.
Regarding his retirement from politics, Siddaramaiah said he felt that electoral politics seems to be enough to some extent. “However, since people have a lot of love and trust, I will decide based on public opinion whether to continue or not”, he said.
The CM said he is still deciding on whether to not contest the next election. “However, people, well-wishers, and friends are pressuring me to continue in politics. I am confident that people will give power in the next election as well”, he said. He expressed confidence in winning the next election and forming the government again.
HR Ranganath asked the CM that if well-wishers would like him to continue in politics what he had to say about continuing in power. To this, the CM said, “One cannot come to power without the blessings of the people. Then, to become the Chief Minister or a minister, the blessings of the high command and the MLAs are needed”. He said that he is happy to continue as the Chief Minister for the 2nd term.
When asked about his political journey, Siddaramaiah said he has faith in his four-decade-long political career. He mentioned that false accusations were made against him in the MUDA case. “They played politics, but truth always prevails”, he emphasised.
Siddaramaiah also updated on his health, saying he is feeling better, but still needs time to recover as he was slightly overweight. He assured that all preparations for the upcoming budget are under way. Due to his leg pain, he has been holding meetings at his official residence. This time, presenting the 16th budget will be a record, he added.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah congratulated Public TV on its 13th anniversary. He praised the channel’s efforts in addressing people’s issues and providing a voice to the voiceless.
The CM commended the channel’s fearless and unbiased reporting, praising its efforts to amplify the voices of marginalized communities. He wished the channel, its staff and head H R Ranganath continued success. The CM’s wishes were part of Public TV’s 13th-anniversary celebration, marking the channel’s growth and commitment to socially relevant journalism.
