BENGALURU: Hundreds of people visit Cubbon Park every day along with their families or friends to spend some quality time amidst greenery. Cubbon Park also has a kids’ play area and Bal Bhavan. But several visitors have complained about couples indulging in public display of affection (PDA) and indecent behaviour in the park. Also, some of the visitors spoil the beauty of the park by dumping garbage.

Now, the Horticulture Department had taken up some measures to curb indecent behaviour in the park and has deployed security guards to keep eye on such people and illegal activities. The guards go around the park making announcement on bullhorns urging people to desist from any sort of illegal activity or public display of affection.

Manjunath, a security guard deployed at Cubbon Park, said, “The Horticulture Department has taken the step to prevent indecent behaviour in the park, which is a cause for embarrassment for families and the elderly. We are going around the park for the last nine days and if we spot anyone indulging in indecent behaviour, we first alert them on the megaphone”.

Dr Umesh, said the department should give training for the security guards to communicate with visitors in a polite manner.

Dr Umesh, president of the Cubbon Park Walkers Association, said, “We had brought the issue of indescenst behaviour among some couples to the department earlier. Now the department has implemented some measures and it is everyone’s responsibility to follow disciple in the park. No should feel embarrassed here. However, there is a need to train security guards to communicate better with visitors”.
