BENGALURU: After the Congress party secured victory in all three seats in the bypolls, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that this by-election has been crucial to him as the BJP and the JDS leaders made false allegations against him and his government to malign his image. He further said that the people of the state did not believe in the lies spread by the BJP and the JDS.

“Above all, this by-election result was important to me for another reason. This time, after I became the Chief Minister, BJP and JDS leaders have been making false allegations against me and our government and trying to malign my image. Both these parties have colluded and used everything from the Raj Bhavan to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to create a scandal and try to frame me and my family”, Siddaramaiah posted on X.

“They also made false allegations against my family for political hatred and made an investigation. The BJP leaders made false allegations against me and my wife to tie me down. But the people of Karnataka have seen my politics for the last four decades. No one believed the lies of BJP and JDS leaders. The election results are proof of this”, he added further in his post on X.

In Karnataka, Congress’ Yasir Pathan defeated former CM Basavaraj Bommai’s son Bharat Bommai in Shigagaon while turncoat CP Yogeshwara defeated HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil by a massive margin in Channapatna. Congress canidate Annapoorna Tukaram accepted the winning certificate from the returning officer after securing 93,616 votes, defeating BJP’s Bangara Hanumantha by 9,649 votes in Sandur.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar celebrated Congress’s victory in the by polls calling it “a message from the people.”

Shivakumar praised the Congress victory, stating, “I don’t say it is a defeat of Bharath Bommai, it’s a message from the people for what his father did. Only two things work — development and guarantees. It is a message from the people that allegations should stop, and concentration should be on work. This is the beginning, and we will come back to power in 2028”. (ANI)
