KOCHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the family of N Ramachandran, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, in Kochi on Friday. After consoling Ramachandran’s wife and daughter, Shah reaffirmed the government’s tough stance against terrorism, stressing that there would be “no mercy for anyone who dares to commit such crimes”.

In a post on X, Shah wrote,”Today, in Kochi, visited the family of the late Ramachandran Ji, whom we lost to the dastardly Pahalgam attack. Met his wife, Smt. Sheila Ji and also their daughter, Aarathi R. Menon. Inquired about their well-being and assured them that the nation stands firmly with them. Through ‘Operation Sindoor’ and ‘Operation Mahadev’, Modi government has punished the perpetrators of Pahalgam attack. No mercy for anyone who dares to commit such crimes”.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. The Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists.

Earlier on Friday, Shah attended the BJP Kerala State Leadership Meet in Kochi in Kerala’s Ernakulam district. Kerala BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar and other senior leaders felicitated Amit Shah at the meeting. The meeting comes ahead of the local body elections in the state. Shah also attended a media event in Kochi.

While addressing a public gathering in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district, Shah invoked national security, recalling the Pahalgam terrorist attack and highlighting the Centre’s response under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. “Pakistani terrorists killed our innocent citizens in Pahalgam. Modi ji had promised that we will teach a lesson to the terrorists and their masters and by permitting Operation Sindoor, we destroyed their terrorist bases”, he said. (ANI)
