BELAGAVI: The Forest Department officials have arrested nine people for hunting a sambar in Londa forest range based on specific information. Two guns, one machete and venison were seized from the accused.
The arrested are Ranjit Desai, Balwant Desai, Atmaram Devali, Pramod Desai, Dattaraj Havaldar, Gnanesh Gawade, Govind Desai, Appi Hanabara and Baramappa Hanabara of Nerase village in Khanapur taluk.
The Forest department has booked them under the Wildlife Protection Act and produced them before a court which remanded them to judicial custody. The arrests ere made by a team led by ACF Sunitha Nimbaragi.
