Nigerian national ‘kingpin’ of drug supply in Bengaluru, arrested in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Anti-Narcotic Bureau (TSNAB) has arrested a Nigerian national in possession of psychotropic drugs in Hyderabad. The psychotropic drugs—Ecstasy (MD) pills—seized from him are worth around Rs. 10.56 lakhs, said authorities.

“On Wednesday, the sleuths of TSNAB along with Film Nagar Police, Hyderabad City apprehended one Nigerian National named Ogbaugu David Uka with the possession of psychotropic drugs- Ecstasy (MD) Pills- in the limits of Film Nagar Police Station seized Ecstasy Pills-numbering 264 and worth around Rs. 10.56 lakhs,” a statement issued by TSNAB said.

According to the TSNAB, the accused Ogbaugu David Uka is a kingpin in drug supply at Bengaluru city and stays in Bengaluru. He has contacts with drug peddlers in Hyderabad city and frequently travels to Hyderabad.

In the recent past, seven drug peddlers were arrested in two different crimes registered at Kachiguda Police Station and KPHB Police Station are getting psychotropic drugs from Ogbaugu David Uka and they were selling to the consumers in Hyderabad city, the officials said.

The accused exposed himself to the general public as Pastor and in the guise of Pastor he is serving as welfare chairman to the “ALL INDIA NIGERIAN STUDENTS & COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION”, the officials added.

According to the police, the main functions of the association are to arrange bails and other legal assistance to the arrested drug offenders of Nigerian Nation. He uses fabricated identity cards with fake names to conceal his identity. He also using a fake VISA. He took SIM cards on the name of others and using them for his criminal activities, the police said.

“On credible information on 16.08.2023 when he came to Hyderabad city to supply Ecstasy Pills to his known peddlers, the sleuths of TS NAB along with Film Nagar PS staff apprehended him and seized 264 Pills from his possession worth Rs 10.56 Lakhs,” said the TSNAB statement.

A case has been registered against him under sections 8(c) and 22(c) of the NDPS Act in Film Nagar Police Station, Hyderabad. (ANI)
