NIA takes arrested woman Naxal into custody for questioning

BENGALURU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials in Kochi have taken custody of Naxalite Srimathi alias Unnimaya, who hails from Sringeri, for questioning in connection with the surfacing of Naxals near Subrahmanya.

Srimathi, alias Unnimaya, has been lodged in the Thrissur jail and the NIA took her into custody for three days on Tuesday. Srimathi has been involved in several Naxal activities before her arrest.

Recently, some Naxals were spotted near Subrahmanya and Kojimale twice within a week. The local police and other agencies are investigating the incident. However, the NIA officials refused to divulge information on why they have taken custody of Srimathi.
