BENGALURU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a chargesheet against six accused who allegedly conspired to carry out serial bomb blasts in the city.
The accused were arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police who raided a house in RT Nagar last July. The CCB has found four live hand grenades inside the almirah from the house of Tabrez in Kodigehalli. Later, the case was transferred to the NIA.
During the search, seven country-made revolvers, 45 live bullets, grenades and walkie-talkies were found at the house of one of the accused. The accused planned to carry out blasts in the city, the investigation revealed. The NIA has submitted a chargesheet before the special court containing all these elements.
The accused had hidden a chemical powder in a box. The investigators, along with Bomb Disposal Squad (BDDS) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officials, conducted an operation soon after receiving information, recovered live grenades, and seized them. The accused had erased the marking on the country-made grenades.
The mastermind and prime terror suspect, Junaid, who is abroad, was said to be handler of the suspected terror accused who lived in Bengaluru. He also funded lakhs, organised training and also prepared a blueprint to execute their plan.
The terror suspects planned explosions in the city as directed by Junaid Ahmed. He had identified more than 10 targets in the city. Investigation revealed that had the CCB police delayed two to three days, they had prepared to carry out explosions in some parts of Bengaluru.
