BENGALURU: An elderly woman was murdered by her next-door neighbour and her body was found wrapped in a cupboard at the neighbour’s residence at Neraluru in Anekal on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Parvathamma. However, the motive remains unclear.

Parvathamma was murdered by her neighbour Payal Khan.

Nine months ago, Parvathamma’s family had moved in to a rental house from their original residence at Sira in Tumakuru district. On December 1, Parvathamma’s daughter-in-law left home to drop her children off at a tuition centre. Her neighbour Payal Khan noticed this and called Parvathamma to her house and murdered her.

After three days, Parvathamma’s family searched for her everywhere but couldn’t find her. When they realised Payal Khan too had gone missing, they broke the lock of her house and searched inside. They found Parvathamma’s body wrapped and hidden in a cupboard and immediately informed the Attibele police station.

Bengaluru Rural SP Mallikarjuna Baladandi visited the spot. A case has been registered at the Attibele police station.

“On Saturday, Parvathamma’s family filed a missing person’s complaint case at Attibele police station. They searched for her in another house in the building and found Parvtahamma’s body in the cupboard. Since the past year, Payal Khan has been living in that house and the family suspects her. About 70 grams of gold is missing from Parvathamma’s person. We are investigating further and we have formed two teams to locate the accused. We have sent the body for post-mortem examination and are waiting for the results “, said Bengaluru Rural SP Mallikarjuna Baladandi.
