Newly married woman commits over husband’s extra-marital affair

CHIKKABALLAPUR: A newly-married woman committed suicide at Yennur Kadirenahalli village, allegedly over her husband’s extra-marital affair, on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Monika (22). Just a few months ago, she had got married to Bhargav, a resident of Chikkaballapur town.

Bhargav had left Monika at her parental home for the Ganesha festival, and she was expecting him to come back and take her to his house. When she tried calling him, he did not receive the call. She had seen photos of her husband with another woman and, upset over this, she hung herself at home when no one was around. In a death note, she mentioned that her husband was responsible for her death.

Monika’s parents alleged, “We had trusted their family and married off our daughter to Bhargav. They had issues going on, but he started to distance himself from her for his lover and also demanded Rs 2 lakh. He even threatened divorce so that he could marry his girlfriend. He is responsible for our daughter’s death.”

Meanwhile, Bhargav’s relatives alleged that Monika had an extra-marital affair with another man. A case has been registered at the Chikkaballapur Rural police station and further investigation is on.
