GAGAD: A newly-married woman and her boyfriend ended their lives in a suicide pact at Naregal town in the district on Saturday. The deceased are Lalitha Halageri (24) and Appanna Goraki (28), a resident of Naregal.
The two were said to be in a relationship for the last 3-4 years and intended to get married. However, on April 4, Lalitha was married off to a youth hailing from Ganapura village in Gangavathi taluk of Koppal district due to pressure by her parents.
On Friday, Lalitha had come to her parental home and met Appanna. They decided to end their lives and accordingly, stepped out of their houses early on Saturday morning and hung themselves from a tree on a farm land on Gajendragad Road on the outskirts of Naregal.
The Naregal police visited the spot and registered a case. Further investigation is under way.
