DHARWAD: A newborn male baby was found abandoned in a sugarcane field near KEB grid on the outskirts of Kalaghatagi town in Dharwad district. Police suspected that a mother gave birth to the child in the sugarcane field and abandoned the baby.
The baby weighs approximately 3kg. He started crying when ants started biting him. Then, locals heard the baby’s cries, rushed to the sugarcane field and took it to the taluk hospital for preliminary treatment. After that, the child was sent to the district child care centre. A case has been registered in Kalaghatagi police station.
