BENGALURU: A Nepali couple decamped with gold ornaments after breaking into their employer’s house in the HAL area while the family was away in Tirupati. The thieves are Raj and Deepa, who were working as security guards.

The employer, Ramesh, had hired the couple three months ago. They had gained his trust by working diligently and were given charge of the house when Ramesh and his family left for Tirupati on May 27.

When Ramesh checked the CCTV footage remotely while in Tirupati, he found them to be switched off. Assuming it was due to the rain, he didn’t give it much thought and returned the next day after visiting the temple.

However, upon returning home, Ramesh found the door open and discovered that 2 kg of gold ornaments, Rs 10 lakh in cash and a licenced gun were missing. A case has been registered at the HAL police station in connection with the incident.
