Naxal leader Vikram Gowda gunned down by ANF in late-night encounter in Udupi district

UDUPI: The Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) gunned down most-wanted Naxal leader Vikram Gowda a.k.a Srikanth on Monday night in Udupi district, officials said, adding that the operations were carried out late at night in the dense forests of Thingalamakki Peete Bailu located in Kabbinale area near Hebri.

Hebri Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahesh T M confirmed that Vikram Gowda was killed in an encounter. “The deceased is Vikram Gowda, a most-wanted Naxal from Kudlu village in Nadralu of Hebri taluk. Acting on a tip-off about Naxal movement in the area, the ANF team launched an armed operation late on Monday night and targeted the Naxals”, the police officer said.(ANI)
