Namma Metro to come up with QR code app to ease commute

BENGALURU: Namma Metro is the pulse of the people of Silicon City, because it is safe and saves travel time. A large number of people depend on the Metro for their daily travel. The BMRCL has now come forward to enhance passenger convenience by adopting more digital systems.

Yashavanth Chavan, Chief Public Relations Officer, said that Namma Metro already has a QR code system. But the existing QR code is not compatible with all apps. QR code app facilities is available only on Paytm, WhatsApp, and Yatra apps. Hence, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has decided to bring its QR code system on a universal platform and has implemented a new app.

Namma Metro has already started the tender process for designing the app which will be like ‘Bharat Bill Pay System’. Metro passengers can not only buy Metro tickets through the app but also recharge their smart cards. Autorickshaws and cabs can also be booked through this app. Online payment can also be done apart from viewing information about Metro schedules.
