Namma Metro has introduced digital lockers at three stations for now.

BENGALURU: The Namma Metro has become the most preferred mode of transport for lakhs of Bengalureans over the years. Now, in a move to enhance passenger amenities, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has introduced smart digital luggage lockers at three Metro stations.

The lockers, from SafeCloak, have been introduced at Majestic, Chikpet and Benniganahalli Metro stations where commuters can keep their luggage and travel. The locker usage fee will depend on the size of the baggage and the duration for which it is kept. After checking out the public response, the BMRCL authorities plan to expand the facility at other stations too.

The digitised lockers can be operated from one’s mobile phones with one-time passwords (OTP) after registering with name, email ID and mobile phone number. A code is used for locking and unlocking the lockers. An attendant will also be around to help with operating the lockers.

A medium-sized baggage will be charged Rs 70 for six hours and Rs 120 for 12 hours while a large-sized luggage will be charged Rs 100 for six hours and Rs 160 for 12 hours. The facility is available from 5 am to 11 pm and in case, commuters face any issues, they can call a helpline. Dangerous items like knives, acid, petroleum products, etc, will not be allowed to be stored in the lockers.
