BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has extended its services till the wee hours on Tuesday for the benefit of New Year revellers who are expected to throng the central business district on Tuesday night.
Namma Metro services will be available till 2 am on Wednesday with trains running at 10-minute intervals from 11 pm on Tuesday. The last Metro train from the Majestic interchange will leave at 2.40 am in all the four directions.
With a large crowd expected at MG Road and Brigade Road, the entry and exit gates at the MG Road Metro station will be closed. Commuters can board trains either from the Trinity or Cubbon Park metro stations. Paper tickets will be priced at a flat rate of Rs 50 for any destination.
In view of the crowd expected to gather at MG Road, Brigade Road and Richmond Road, BMTC will operate additional buses from the night of December 31 to 2 am on January 1 from MG Road to various parts of the city. BMTC has taken this step for the convenience of people participating in the New Year celebrations.

Additionally, buses will also operate from major bus stands and junctions where there is a lot of traffic. BMTC said that buses will be arranged from Kempegowda Bus Stand, KR Market, Shivajinagar, Koramangala, Kadugodi, Kengeri, Sumanahalli, Goraguntepalya, Yeshwantpur, Yelahanka, Shanthinagar, Banashankari, Hebbal and Central Silk Boards depending on passenger traffic.
Meanwhile, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has also set up medical camps at various locations including MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street and Koramangala. Civic workers are also on alert to clean up the city after the revelry.
Medical staff will also be available in case of emergencies. The BBMP, in coordination with the city police, has taken steps to attend to any medical emergencies apart from keeping the city clean.
